April Chapter Meeting: 4/19/16 at Brixx Ice Company

Program: Data – The Eternal Struggle of When it Becomes a Record

Speaker: Professor Daniel Noonan, assistant professor, is the electronic records / digital resources archivist for The Ohio State University. He received his MLS from Rutgers University in 2001. Reporting to the university archivist, he assists in the implementation and maintenance of University’s records management policy and program, including retention schedule development and providing consultation and training pertaining to electronic records management and preservation. He collaborates with the University’s Office of the CIO to develop and maintain an information architecture framework for enterprise content management, including the development of project management and audit tools that address the recordkeeping aspects of electronic administrative systems. He is the Chair of the Ohio Historical Records Advisory Board (, Past Chair of the Ohio Electronic Records Committee (, and Chair of the Society of American Archivists’ Electronic Records Section

February Chapter Meeting: 2/23/16 at Figlio’s

Program: Case Study: Implementing an Email Management Program

Speaker: James Zimmerlin serves as the Records & Information Manager for CareSource, a non-profit Managed Care Company headquartered in Dayton, Ohio. He holds a bachelor’s in History and a master’s in Public Administration from Wright State University, as well as a master’s in Library & Information Science from Kent State University. Prior to joining CareSource, he served as the Records Manager & Archivist for Warren County, Ohio. He also is currently certified by the Institute of Certified Records Managers (ICRM) as a Certified Records Manager (CRM) and as a Certified Archivist (CA) by the Academy of Certified Archivists (ACA).

Program: To Digitize, or Not to Digitize: Audio Records Matter!

Program Description: As records managers and archivists, we encounter all types of media when it comes to information management. There is so much out there about what to do / not to do about our paper/electronic records and metadata, but what about preserving your audio files? Chances are they are “important” but secondary. Join us as the Centerville Library to hear John Walko from SceneSavers discuss the ever changing formats of audio media and how to preserve these records. Following the meeting, we will break for happy hour at Lock 27 Brewing, also in Centerville.

Program Description: For the first time, the Greater Dayton Chapter will be presented by our most recent scholarship recipient, Nina Herzog, on how she utilized the scholarship during her internship this past summer, and how it relates to records management and archives. April Chapter Meeting: 4/29 at Olive Kettering Library Archive, Antioch College

Program Description: The Greater Dayton Chapter will tour the Olive Kettering Library archives located on the Antioch College Campus in Yellow Springs, Ohio.  The chapter will be hosted by Archivist Scott Sanders and treated to a tour of the Antiochiana collections.  Following the tour, please join the chapter at Ye Olde Trail Tavern for an early dinner.

E-Discovery Article from Chapter Meeting

Program Description: Please join us at Figlio’s Wood Fired Pizza for our February chapter meeting. Our speaker for the evening will be Micheline Kidwell, Discovery Attorney Staffing Manager with WilmerHale Discovery Solutions.  Ms. Kidwell focuses on providing e-discovery and document review support for firm clients across industries and practices.  She handles all incoming inquiries from the WilmerHale offices regarding discovery attorney staffing for client matters and assists with coordinating client/matter specific training for the discovery attorney team.
